WELSH SLATE HELPS LOCAL FAMILIES WITH SOME WINTER WOOLIES
28 October 2022
Ten families will be getting a little extra help from Welsh Slate to get through this winter.
The leading UK manufacturer has pledged a financial contribution towards the Barnardo’s charity’s “Getting ready for winter” project at the Caban Bach Family Centre in Blaenau Ffestiniog where one of its quarries is located.
Barnardo’s provides support to children, young people and families across Meirionnydd by not just operating the Caban Bach Day Nursery but also a parenting and family support service that works to help families improve their wellbeing.
The ‘Getting ready for winter’ project provides families with a kit that includes mittens/gloves, hat, scarf, slipper socks and a warm blanket/hoodie, and Welsh Slate’s donation is enough for 10 families.
The charity said: “We know that energy bills are going to be a huge pressure point and we want to ensure that we do everything possible to support families through this difficult time.”
Barnardo’s children’s services manager Lyn Môn Owen-Hughes added: “Welsh Slate’s contribution will support us to ensure that families are provided with suitable clothing and warm blankets for the winter ahead.“
