WELSH SLATE HELPS GUIDE PUPILS TO THEIR NEW WILDLIFE AND LEARNING GARDEN

12 November 2024

A donation of Welsh Slate materials has helped with the creation of a new memorial garden at a school near the company’s home village of Bethesda.

Ysgol Tregarth created the garden in memory of Miss Llinos Barnes, a beloved staff member whose dedication and kindness touched the lives of many of the primary pupils.

Welsh Slate made a generous donation of slate pathways and slate fencing for the wildlife and learning garden close to its main Penrhyn Quarry.

School principal Gareth Edwards said: “The addition of slate pathways and fencing, crafted from the finest Welsh slate, not only enhances the beauty of the garden but also ensures that it will be a lasting tribute to Miss Barnes' memory. The garden will provide the pupils of our school with a tranquil, inspiring space for reflection, learning and growth, fostering a sense of connection to the natural world and to the values Miss Barnes held dear.

“We are deeply grateful to Welsh Slate for their support in helping to bring this meaningful project to life. Their contribution will play a key role in creating a place where memories can be cherished, and new opportunities can flourish for generations of pupils to come. Thank you, Welsh Slate, for making this project possible and for supporting our school community.”
