THREE TIMES LUCKY FOR BETHESDA AFC
12 August 2019
Welsh Slate has completed a hat-trick of donations to its local football club.
The company has supported Bethesda Athletics FC, which is based near its main Penrhyn Quarry, for many years and most recently donated 21 tonnes of aggregate to help the club repair pot holes in its car park and reinforce the entrance to its main field.
This follows a donation of aggregate in August 2019 towards a project to improve a pathway and lighting for a smaller pitch, and a cash donation of more than £200 in 2018 to provide the junior teams with rain jackets.
A club spokesperson said: “We value the close community spirit that Welsh Slate contribute to in various aspects. The company is very prominent in their contributions towards this. They have been very forthcoming and generous and we would thank them for their support
Bethesda Athletics FC was formed around 100 years ago. The voluntary team managers and committee members offer grass roots football at both senior and junior level. Currently running with six junior teams for youngsters aged between six and 14, and a girls team, the club also has a senior side whose players and management are all local.
Hard work over the past few years has resulted in the club hosting junior tournaments and cup final matches, attracting teams and supporters from all over North Wales, and featuring Welsh Slate’s logo on the events’ programmes.
