National Waterfront Museum, SwanseaIncreasingly, specifiers are recognising the many benefits natural Welsh slate brings to the building envelope, enabling them to introduce an innovative design concept based on proven, durable high performance, unique colours and finishes and the ability to achieve superb visual lines within a classic or contemporary design framework. 195m2 of Heather Blue and 125m2 of Heather Red slate from Penrhyn Quarry, together with 248m2 of Dark Blue Grey from Cwt-y-Bugail Quarry was used as a facing material on prefabricated precast concrete panels. All slate cladding units were 40mm thick with a dimensional tolerance of +0/-1mm and were supplied pre-drilled ready for the hedgehog pins prior to fixing to the concrete panels. |
