Welsh Slate Roofing - British Library, London

A fine example of the use of slate can be found on the British Library roof.  The requirements for this project were firstly practical and then cosmetic as the building cost effective functionality had to be maintained over a considerable period of time.

Architects, Colin St John Wilson & Partners undertook an exhaustive study of roofing materials and found that Welsh//Slate products met with all the necessary quality assurance standards.

Whilst colour and tecture were important criteria in the selection process, the durability and maintenance free qualities of slate were significant factors in specifying 500x250 Penrhyn Heather Blue Capital roofing slate.
